Pat graduated cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College with a B.A. in Economics in 1982, and with honors from the University of Texas with a juris doctor in 1985. Following graduation from law school, he practiced with the law firm of Ross, Griggs & Harrison for two years and for eight years with the law firm of Bush & McCaffrey, P.C. in Houston, Texas. Specializing in insurance litigation, both first and third party, he has experience in tort and commercial litigation involving coverage, transportation, toxic torts, nursing home liability, ambulance service liability, wrongful death, defamation, arson, insurance fraud, and professional liability. Joe also has been practicing law since 1985. He has substantial experience in multi-state litigation in the areas of transportation defense, liability, construction claims, trucking claims and shortline railroad claims. He has substantial experience in individual life, health and disability litigation, class action defense, bad faith, commercial litigation, products liability, Ohio workers compensation, and FELA claims. Reported cases: Semco, Inc. v. Amcast, Inc., 52 F.3d 108, 34 U.S.P.Q.2d 1635 (6th Cir. 1995); Herman v. Cattron, Northstar BHP & Relco Locomotives, 227 F.Supp.2d 774 (N.D. Ohio 2002); Whitt v.ERB Lumber, 156 Ohio App.3d 518 (2004). He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits, all state and federal courts of Ohio and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He is a 1982 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, attended The American University in Washington, D.C. and received his juris doctor from Capital University Law School in 1985. Joe is a member of the Trucking Industry Defense Association ("TIDA"), Columbus Bar Association, and National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
